Kylie Jean Thompson
Kylie Thompson is a a Toronto based artist, illustrator, and muralist. She Graduated from the Ontario College of Arts and Design in 2013 focusing in fibre arts. With a passion for story, her work often explores narratives with a particular focus on the play between the environmental and human impact on a landscape. The goal in Kylie’s work is to create a sense of hopeful whimsy through the use of bold soft colours and flat textures.
Artist Statement
Kylie specializes in alien/mystical landscapes. Often inspired by abandoned buildings and sci-fi imagery. Her work offers a sense of escapism while being grounded in familiarity. There is often a consciousness of the human imprint in an environment that’s been overgrown, suggesting a greater narrative, and the image of time passed. While the subject matter airs on the side of serious, Kylie’s use of bold soft colours and flat textures create an element of hopeful whimsy.
