Mural: Out of the Box 2023
The Outside the Box Mural program is a way for the City of Toronto to infuse the community with more local art. This project was completed in the summer of 2023, located at Adelaide east and Berkeley. My proposal was selected by the City of Toronto with their StArt program along with a group of other artist working to beautify the utility boxes around the city.
In this piece, I wanted to explore the addictive relationship that many of us have with “Junk” food, and how we often idolize it without realizing.
I created a playful and colourful mural depicting some of the various common foods we love and crave in North America. All 4 sides illustrate characters dreaming about or idolizing some of these foods.
Through this piece, I hope to spark a conversation about the role that food plays in our lives. By embracing the fun and playful nature of fast food, we can start to develop a healthier and more balanced relationship with this ubiquitous part of our culture.
